Just like how our bodies get tired of exercising, there may be times wherein our minds do not feel like doing anything mentally taxing or productive for the day and feels the need for a “cheat day”. This ladies and gentlemen lead to procrastination and even worse, is self-sabotage. This damages our self-esteem and gives us the feeling like we’ve “lost” to something. That is why it is important to know some ways we can get our “groove” back or push ourselves back into our productive momentum. So, here are some exercises and habits to help keep your productivity up!
Practice meditation
Since our minds are constantly processing bits of information for every second of our lives, and add that to all the quick information and entertainment that is readily accessible to us in this digital age, we need a way to detoxify our minds. Scientifically and technically, getting a good night’s sleep can also do this, but what will you do if you can’t even get a good night’s sleep? You meditate. Meditating isn’t just idly sitting around and falling asleep eventually, rather it’s a way for you to clear your mind of everyday stress and get yourself back on track.
Do Exercise!
If we have meditation to detoxify our minds from stress, then exercise is there for us to detoxify ourselves from the more physical effects of everyday stress. Not only does exercise help release a lot of hormones that make you feel good, it also helps lower your risk of many diseases such as stroke, cancer, diabetes, and may more!
Make your goals clear!
“A goal without a timeline is just a dream.”- Robert Herjavec
As business owners, we often set goals like target sales per quarter or having a certain number of customers per day. Mapping out your goals can help make it clear what you want to achieve when you want to achieve it, and how you will achieve it. Now, how can we map out our goals? You can follow these steps that will definitely raise your productivity exponentially:
Make a list of your goals
Making a list can take a very short time depending on how detailed you want it to be. By making a list, you make your targets clear. You can even arrange your list by order of importance or urgency and you can even by arranging them chronologically! By setting your goals on a list, you make it hard and unlikely for yourself to start procrastinating. You also become more focused and sharp. Thus, elevating the quality of your work and time.
Minimize your screen time
It’s kind of ironic since you may be reading this through a screen, but this time it’s definitely worth it. When your goals start to become clear, it’s important for you to retain that level of focus. You have to avoid distractions from this point on because this will simply lead you back to the path of procrastination. Thus, it will be counterproductive if you start wasting your time away by scrolling through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and etc.
Feed Your Mind
Just like how we eat food for our physical bodies to gain energy and nutrients, it is important that we feed our minds with quality information as well. Spend at least 15 minutes of your day learning about something new. It may be related to your business or just something totally random like trivia or a simple skill. You never know when this information might prove useful for you.
Make new progress
Most business owners like to wait for that one opportunity that will catapult their business into an international success, but why wait for an opportunity to come, when you can make it yourself? By taking even the tiniest amount of progress each day, you feel a lot more energized, and get you in the mood to become more productive. This also gets you closer to your goals and makes you develop a habit of productivity as well.
Stop wallowing over mistakes
Let’s face it. We will make a lot of mistakes along the way with some even bigger than others, but what really matters is how we move forward after each stumble. It’s also important for us to take responsibility for these mistakes and not let them happen again as it can affect your entire organization.
Pay attention to your results
When it comes to getting great results, it’s important for us to stay open-minded. Why? Because people in your organization may be more creative than you think. They may get the same results using a different method or perhaps even get better results. When this happens, it’s important to see whether the results outweigh the method or cost. In this way, you will have more room to be creative yourself and become more productive.
Stop comparing yourself with other people
As they say, everyone has their own pace. Not everyone becomes successful within their first five years in the field. Even some of the biggest brands in the business industry took a lot of years before they got to where they are now. So, stop looking at others and start focusing on yourself. Being stuck and discouraged by comparing yourself with others is one of the worst things you can do to hurt your productivity.
When you start being mindful and start building yourself with these habits, you are ultimately setting yourself up to spend more days in productivity!
So, good luck and we hope that these tips and practices will be helpful for you.
