Tips On How to Increase Your Confidence & Improve your Life

When we were kids, we often made simple choices such as choosing to walk instead of crawling, choosing to walk to school instead of taking the bus and choosing to play outside or to play inside. These simple choices made us more confident in our bodies than in our lives. As we get older, we get faced with harder and more difficult choices in our lives. Most often, these choices leave us nervous, and anxious and often make us less confident in ourselves.

This is why our self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-image are often interlinked together. These are what make us feel like we are capable of making decisions or if we are the incapable loser that we think we are. When we were kids, most of us started off as confident in our decision-making skills. However, as we get older, a lot of things happen in our lives and our confidence in ourselves tends to drop.

Experiences have made us critical of ourselves and nervous in making any sort of decision in our lives. It has made us hate ourselves for the smallest mistake and has made us fearful of making even bigger decisions in our lives. We have measured ourselves based on our past mistakes instead of our actual abilities.

What this self-criticism results in is a damaged self-image. It makes us think that anything we try to do will not work because we are not capable of doing so. We give up on our dreams and goals in our lives because we simply know that we are incapable of achieving them. We resign ourselves to be among the incapable losers that we think we are in society. Furthermore, we refused to try anything new and live our lives full of regret.

This leads us to miss out on a lot of opportunities that come to us simply because of our lack of confidence, low self-esteem, and negative self-image.

If you think that this is your life right now, then it's time for us to make a change. We must not limit ourselves to what we are right now. Rather, we must believe in our real power to make that positive change in our lives. With that being said, it can be difficult to start by ourselves, so here are some tips to help you get started:

Choose your goals #setagoal

Everything must start with setting a goal. Having any kind of goal is going to help us guide ourselves into what we will become in the future. Our goals may be something physical, financial, or social related. Whatever type of goal is, it's important to start small.

You must choose one simple goal to start with. This is because we tend to overwhelm ourselves with a lot of those at the same time and end up doing nothing instead. Start with something such as doing 10 pushups a day or saving 5% of your salary each month.

Start with something small and achievable. This will help you build your confidence as you Increase the difficulty later on.

Pace yourself #paceyourself

In relation to what was said above, we must also remember to pace ourselves. Pacing ourselves right means working on a goal at a steady rate and not rushing things. As mentioned above, most of us tend to set too many goals at the same time and end up overwhelming ourselves. This can backfire on us and end up decreasing our self-confidence instead.

So to avoid getting frustrated with working at our goals, we must place ourselves accordingly. For example, when you work out three days a week, you must set at least one day for rest. Another example is when we manage our diet strictly, we must set a cheat day.

Being more confident in achieving goals does not happen overnight. Long-term success is made up of multiple short-term successes that build up our confidence and discipline in ourselves.

Believe in the process #believeinprocess

There may be times when we can't see the results immediately. For example, getting abs does not happen within a week or within a short period of time. This may lead many people into frustrated and think that all their efforts were in vain. We must not become like this.

Remember that improving yourself and being more confident takes time and effort. Once you consistently give in your effort, you only need to give it time.

You may feel pressured by those around you. So what you must remember is that everyone is running at their own pace. You don't need to keep up with anybody else but yourself. As long as you are consistently stepping out of your comfort zone, then you will be achieving great things.

Counter your negative thoughts #facenegativethoughts

Part of the reason for our low self-esteem and low self-confidence is the negative thoughts that we have in our heads. It's the negative voice that tells us that everything that we have achieved in life is only achieved through dumb luck and that all of the places that we receive are undeserved. For many, this leads to imposter syndrome.

It's important for us to address this negative voice in our heads. We don't want to live our lives pretending that everything we achieve in our lines is insignificant and that our efforts never count.

For this, you can think of the negative voice inside your head As a separate entity that hates you the most such as your bully. They never want to see you win, they never want to see you happy, and most of all, they never want to see you succeed. This is why it's time for you to push them back.

Let that voice inside your head know that everything you have achieved is through your effort and that it is actually a big deal. Let it be known that you think you are important and that you think you are impressive. For example, when that voice inside your head belittles your achievement, think about the reasons why your achievement is actually a big deal and praise yourself.

Fight back and don't let that voice inside your head win.

Surround yourself with supportive people #surroundyourselfsupportivepeople

As people like to say, “no man is an island”. You don't have to bear all the burden by yourself. Getting help does not mean you are weak, nor does it mean that your achievements mean less. To find a supportive group of people that will help you along the way.

These people may be your friends, family, or even your significant other. They will be the ones who will lend you a supportive voice every time you need it. These supportive voices can also help drown out any negative voices inside your head.

In conclusion, these are the most helpful tips you can find if you are looking to start improving your self-esteem, and self-confidence and get a positive self-image. These steps will help you get started on your journey to improving your life and yourself overall. Make sure to follow these steps and share them with anyone that you know is looking to improve themselves as well. We are the only ones who can offer ourselves genuine support. So if we can offer a little bit of additional knowledge to other people, it will be a great help in their self-improvement journey as well!
